PESHAWAR: The government negotiating team is holding talks with the outlawed Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) shura at unidentified location in North Waziristan on Wednesday.
In a statement, a spokesman of the interior ministry said the government committee took Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan into confidence before starting talks with the Taliban.
Earlier, the government and the Taliban negotiating teams arrived in North Waziristan to hold first direct talks with the TTP shura, aiming at carrying the dialogue process forward.
During the meeting, both sides are likely to deliberate the way forward to make the dialogue process successful and bring peace in the country. The government committee is likely to focus on extending ceasefire.
The four-member government dialogue committee is headed by Habibullah Khattak and comprising Rustam Shah Mohmand, Fawad Hassan Fawad and Arbab Arif.
On the other hand, the five-member TTP committee which is holding talks with the government’s team includes Qari Shakeel, Azam Tariq, Maulvi Zakir, Qari Bashir and another member.
