PoliticsGovt determined to establish peace in Karachi: Irfan Siddiqui

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Political Affairs Irfan Siddiqui has said the government was determined to establish peace in Karachi.

Talking to PTV he said, Sindh government would not let Karachi to return into darkness.

Irfan Siddiqui said that credit goes to the present government for holding LG polls in a peaceful manner adding, PML-N had proved its worth as the only political party of the federation during LG elections.

He said, LG elections on party basis were held for the first time in the history of the country.

The LG elections were an opportunity for all the political parties to evaluate their performance and the continuation of the healthy political process would strengthen roots of the democracy, he added.

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) victory in local government (LG) elections was manifestation of public trust on the government’s policies.

The Adviser said, the political parties who had confined themselves to specific regions should look forward and move ahead.

He said, whatever the circumstances were, the political process should be continued.

A number of by-elections were held during the last two and half years in which PML-N emerged as successful party, as public endorsed its prudent policies and they were satisfied with the performance of the government, he said.

The political parties should not hesitate to transfer powers to the public representatives at grassroots level, he said adding, it would be unfair to the public mandate if the powers would not be transferred to the Mayors.

He said, Rangers personnel were rendering sacrifices particularly in Karachi operation to safeguard future of the citizens.

To a question about Rangers role in Karachi operation he said, the matter would be resolved amicably.

The Advisor said, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was taking keen interest to establish peace in Karachi adding, no compromise would be made in this regard.
