RAWALPINDI, Pakistan: Former Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani on Monday thanked the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif for his efforts leading towards recovery of Ali Haider Gillani.

In a press release, the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that the former prime minister along with son Ali Haider Gillani called on the COAS at the army’s general headquarters in Rawalpindi on Monday.Yousaf Raza Gilani and Ali Haider Gilani meet General Raheel Sharif

During the meeting, the former prime minister expressed his gratitude to the army chief for his support in the recovery of Ali Haider Gillani.

Ali Haider Gillani returned home on May 11 this year after a three-year captivity in Afghanistan. He was abducted by militants from Multan on May 9, 2013 while he was participating in an election campaign, and was recovered in a joint operation carried out by the Afghan and US security forces in Afghanistan’s southeastern Ghazni province.
