General Raheel Sharif undertakes four-day visit to Sri Lanka

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif on Friday arrived in Sri Lanka on a four-day visit which will provide both countries with an opportunity to review ongoing cooperation and collaboration.

His visit to the island is being undertaken at the invitation of his Sri Lankan counterpart Lieutenant General A.W.J. Crishanthe De Silva.

During his stay in Sri Lanka, General Raheel Sharif will discuss with the Sri Lankan civilian and military leadership ways to further broaden and deepen this relationship.

His interactions will be held with the Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and the top leadership of Sri Lanka’s armed forces.

The COAS was scheduled to visit Sri Lanka in March this year; however his visit was cancelled due to a terrorist attack in Karachi which left nearly 50 members of the Ismaili community dead.
