General Raheel Sharif arrives in Karachi to review situation

KARACHI, Pakistan: The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif has arrived in Karachi on Wednesday to review the situation emerged from a deadly attack on a bus carrying members of the Ismaili community.

The terrorist attack left at least 45 minority members dead while over 10 other injured when gunmen opened indiscriminate fire on their bus in Safora Goth area of Karachi on Wednesday.

The splinter group of banned Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) Jundullah claimed responsibility for the attack as its spokesman Ahmad Marwat while talking to a foreign news agency said that their militants were involved in attack on Ismaili community’s bus.

After the attack, the COAS cancelled his scheduled three-day visit to Sri Lanka, according to the Director General Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) Major General Asim Saleem Bajwa.

Nisar seeks details from DG Rangers about Karachi incident

Meanwhile, the Federal Interior Minister Chaudhary Nisar Ali Khan telephoned the Director General Rangers Sindh and sought details about the tragic firing incident in Karachi.

The DG Rangers informed the interior minister that they were trying to track the culprits involved in the heinous crime.
