Foreign assets: LHC issues notices to 63 politicians including Nawaz, Imran, Zardari

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) has issued notices to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, former president Asif Ali Zardari and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan among 63 politicians over their foreign assets and sought their reply in this regard.

The LHC judge Justice Khalid Mahmood Khan was hearing a petition on Tuesday, during which the petitioner Barrister Javed Iqbal Jafri contended that most of the politicians had transferred their assets illegally to foreign countries and if these were brought back to Pakistan, the country would be free of external debt.

The court issued notices to 63 politicians including Nawaz Sharif, Asif Ali Zardari, Imran Khan, Pakistan Muslim League-Q (PML-Q) leader Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif and PTI leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi to submit their response in this regard.

Later, the court adjourned the hearing of the case till June 15.
