Filing of nomination papers begins for KPK LB polls

PESHAWAR, Pakistan: The process for filing nomination papers for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa local government elections began on Monday, and it would continue till April 17.

The local bodies elections in the province are scheduled to be held on May 30.

In a statement, the provincial election commission said that under the local government act 2013, election for village and neighbourhood council will be held on non-party basis while for district and Tehsil level on party basis.

The provincial election commission said that the concerned union council has made ward for elections of district, tehsil and town councils. The elections will be held from each ward for district council, tehsil or town council separately for general seats.

The reserved seats have also been allocated for labourers, women, youth and non-Muslims in the district, tehsil and town councils.

The election commission has asked all the registered political parties to submit lists of candidates for the reserved seats by April 19.

Minimum age for the candidates has been fixed as 21 years whereas on youth seats age limit is 21 to 30 years.
