Federal govt has no objection to issuance of ID card to MQM leader: Nisar

ISLAMABAD: The federal minister for interior Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said on Friday that the government has no objection to issuance of identity card to the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Altaf Hussain rather it wants to facilitate the process.

In his address to a news conference in Islamabad on Friday afternoon, Nisar regretted that issuance of national identity card to the MQM leader is unnecessarily being agitated.

The interior minister said that deviating from the normal procedure, National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) officials were summoned to the residence of Altaf Hussain in London but the registration form has not so far been submitted with the NADRA.

Nisar wondered how identity card can be issued without uploading of the data on the NADRA system.

Meanwhile, the MQM staged a protest demonstration against non-issuance of the Pakistani identity card and passport outside the NADRA office located at Karsaz in Karachi

A large number of people attended the rally holding placards and chanting slogans against the interior ministry.
