FC soldier killed in firing by Iranian border guards

QUETTA, Pakistan: The Iranian border guards opened unprovoked firing inside Pakistani territory, and killed a Frontier Corps (FC) soldier and injured three others.

The incident took place in Mand tehsil of Balochistan’s Kech district on Friday morning.

In a statement, the FC spokesman Khan Wasey said that the FC personnel were chasing miscreants when their vehicle came under attack by the Iranian forces.

“It is a clear border violation and [against] international law. It is also against the Pak-Iran border agreement,” the spokesperson said.

Wasey further said that 30 Iranian border guards entered Nokundi area of Chagai district in Balochistan and made the residents of a nearby village hostage for six hours.

“They subjected the residents to physiological torture and then left,” he said.

The Inspector General FC Major General Ejaz Shahid strongly condemned the infiltration of Iranian guards and vowed to defend the border in the case of future violation.
