National AssemblyFATA reforms to be introduced soon, NA told

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Minister for States and Frontier Regions Lt. General (retd) Abdul Qadir Baloch told the National Assembly on Tuesday that FATA reforms would be introduced as soon as possible.

Speaking on a point of order in the Lower House of the Parliament, he said that the whole nation acknowledged sacrifices rendered by the people of Federally Administrated Tribal Areas (FATA) for the country.

The minister said that the issue of up gradation of teachers in FATA would be resolved on priority basis.

Baloch said that people of FATA had always played a role of soldiers for the country, adding that FATA people had set history in 1948 by sacrificing their lives for Pakistan.

The country never needed to deploy forces on its western borders as the FATA people defended it during two wars with neighboring country India, he said.

The minister said that a former dictator invited an alien war in 2007 and FATA people again rendered sacrifices and left their homes.

In addition, he said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had formally given approval for the up gradation of FATA teachers.

Moscow says it won’t allow US to silence UNSC on Israeli violence against Palestinians Monitoring Desk: Russian envoy in United Nations Vasily Nebenzya said that the UN Security Council should bring peace, stability and prosperity to the Middle East and Russia would not allow United States to silence UNSC over the issue of Gaza crisis. According to TASS news Agency, Nebenzya said that Moscow will continue to call for an end to violence against Palestinians and will not allow the US to muzzle the UN Security Council as Washington seeks to support Israel's operation in Gaza. "We will continue to stand firmly for ending violence against the Palestinians. Without a shadow of a doubt, we will continue to expose the abuses and sanctimony with which the US is handling the situation. We will not allow the Americans to gag the entire council with their hands in an effort to encourage further continuation of Israel's ruthless operation," he said in a speech at the Security Council.
