No evidence of any organized rigging in last elections: PM Nawaz

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has said that there is no evidence of whatsoever kind of any organized rigging in the general elections held last year.

In his address at the joint session of the parliament which concluded the debate on the current political situation on Friday, the prime minister said that 2013 general elections were fair and free and even 200 international observers acknowledged their fairness.

The prime minister said that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has not been able to produce any evidence of rigging of the elections. He added that in his meeting with the PTI chief at his residence in Bani Gala, Imran Khan did not mention any rigging of the elections 2013.

Sharif questioned that on what basis the PTI demands opening of 272 constituencies of the National Assembly for verification.

The premier further said that the government has tried to resolve the political crisis through dialogue but the leaders of the protesters despite all the government’s efforts are trying to defame the nation in the comity of nations.

Nawaz asks protesters to reconsider their actions 

Nawaz Sharif asked those spreading lawlessness and chaos to reconsider their actions for the betterment of the country.

Moreover, Sharif vowed that the protesters will not be allowed to force the resignation of the elected prime minister.

The prime minister also lauded all the political parties for their support to democracy and democratic institutions. He said that it is hard to understand the agenda of the protesters in the red zone.
