Electricity, gas crises in Pakistan to end soon: Nawaz Sharif

LONDON: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has said that Pakistan will soon get rid of the electricity and gas crises as the present government has initiated a number of energy projects with the cooperation of China.

Talking to media representatives in London, the prime minister urged foreign companies and entrepreneurs to seize lucrative investment opportunities in Pakistan as security situation and economy have considerably improved.

The prime minister said that with inflation at 13-year low, improved gross domestic product (GDP) growth and high forex reserves, the country’s economy is turning around.

Talking about the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor and the recent visit of the Chinese President Xi Jinping to Islamabad, the prime minister termed the visit “very productive” and said that the Chinese investment of $46 billion has been unprecedented.

Nawaz Sharif is currently in London on a three-day visit to the United Kingdom on the invitation of his British counterpart David Cameron.

During his visit, he will hold official talks with the British prime minister on bilateral, regional and global issues.

The Pakistani premier will also participate in the National Commemoration of the Centenary of Gallipoli Campaign and ANZAC Day where he will interact with other participating leaders and dignitaries.
