Election tribunal orders re-election in Karachi’s PS-114

KARACHI, Pakistan: An election tribunal on Friday declared the election result of Karachi’s PS-114 null and void, and ordered re-election in the constituency.

The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) Irfanullah Marwat won the election held in May last year from PS-114. His victory was challenged by Abdur Rauf Siddiqui of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) who remained as the runner-up in the election.

Siddiqui had alleged that Marwat had rigged the election by making the entire polling staff of the constituency hostage in blatant violation of election laws.
