ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Tuesday issued new schedule for the local bodies elections across the country, according to which LB polls in Sindh will be held on January 18‚ in Punjab on January 30 while in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa‚ cantonment boards and Islamabad in February.

A high level meeting of the ECP with acting Election Commissioner Justice Tasadduq Hussain Jilani in the chair was held in Islamabad to discuss preparations for local bodies polls. Moreover, printing of ballot papers, preparation of magnetic ink and deployment of army were also included in the agenda of the meeting.

Under the new schedule issued by the commission, the notice for LB polls in Sindh and Punjab would be issued on November 29.

The nomination papers of candidates will be accepted from December 10-13 and objections can be filled till December 14. The scrutiny phase will be held from December 15 to 19. From December 20-21 appeals against the decisions of Returning Officers will be filed which will be heard from December 22-25.

The final list of candidates would be issued on December 26.
