AsiaECP orders to reshuffle 65 top bureaucrats in Sindh

Karachi: According to a press release, the Election Commission of Pakistan on Thursday took notice of the Sindh caretaker government’s failure to comply with its directive to shuffle, transfer provincial secretaries, The Dispatch News Desk (DND) reported.

A directive issued by the commission on April 2 stated that the caretaker government was required to replace federal and provincial secretaries, except for those who are considered independent. Should a government choose not to replace a secretary, it must inform the commission of its decision, said the directive.

After almost ten days after that directive was issued, the commission noted the Sindh caretaker government had not replaced or transferred any secretary, nor had it informed the ECP regarding its failure to.
On Thursday, the commission said that it has received complaints about the specific officers, alleging that they were in favour of political parties in the previous government.

The ECP gave the Sindh government seven days to transfer specific officers.“Caretaker governments should endeavor to ensure that they not only act as neutral, but are also seen to be neutral,” said the press release.
