ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has issued the schedule for general elections 2013 on Friday after it brought several alterations to the proposed schedule, Dispatch News Desk (DND) reported.

The schedule was made public after Chief Election Commissioner Fakhruddin G Ibrahim granted his approval to the schedule.

The schedule states that the general elections on National and Provincial assemblies’ seats will be conducted on May 11.

Under the schedule, the Returning officers will issue a public notice by March 23 and candidates can file nomination papers with the returning officer from March 24 to 29.

The process of scrutiny of the candidates will be done from March 30 to April 5.

The candidates and their opponents will be able to file appeals from April 6 to 9, which will be reviewed by the tribunals until April 16.

The candidates could withdraw their nomination forms till April 17. The final list of the candidates will be issued on April 18.

The Election Commission has allotted 22 days to the election candidates for the election campaign and general elections 2013 will be held on May 11.
