PESHAWAR: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Saturday decided to give prisoners the right to vote in the upcoming general elections.
The election commission asked for details of registered voters serving jail terms in different case. According to the ECP, prisoners will also be facilitated to cast votes for their candidates.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Election Commissioner Sonu Khan Baloch said that he had sought details about the registered voters languishing in jails.
In addition, polling stations will be set up at the camps of internally-displaced people (IDPs) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
ECP says that it is in contact with law enforcement agencies to maintain law and order situation on the day of poling.
