QUETTA: In response to political parties’ demand, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Fakhruddin G. Ibrahim on Thursday extended last date for filing of nomination papers for two days in Balochistan.

In a meeting, presided by the CEC and attended by members of 15 various political and religious parties in Quetta this morning, Ibrahim said the fate of Balochistan may be changed with ballot and not with bullet.

The Chief Election Commissioner said it was great unfortunate that most of the political parties remained obtained from the general elections in 2008 that is why the whole assembly member remained ministers.

The CEC said that the objectives of their visit were to remove their apprehension and hurdle so that the election could take place in peaceful atmosphere.

Meanwhile, Ibrahim called upon the political parties to take part in the coming elections for the larger interest of the country and coming generation.

The CEC further said that his top priority is to hold transparent election for bringing real representatives of the people to the assembly. He said that he would do all he can for the holdings of transparent elections.

Earlier, the Chief Election Commissioner was given briefing by the members of the political parities about their problems.
