KARACHI, Pakistan: The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif on Wednesday said that the ultimate aim of Karachi Operation is peace as it is imperative for country’s economic progress and economic activity.

In his remarks at a security meeting held in the Corps Headquarters in Karachi on Wednesday, the COAS said that economic progress and economic activity is directly linked with peace in Karachi hence a terror free and peaceful Karachi is the ultimate aim of this operation.

The COAS said that all efforts must be directed with a focused approach to achieve this objective.

The meeting was attended by Corps Commander, Director General Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), Director General Military Operations (MO), Director General Military Intelligence (MI) and Director General Rangers.

During the meeting, the COAS was briefed in detail regarding ongoing Karachi operation including intelligence based operations.

While expressing his satisfaction over success and pace of operation, the COAS lauded Rangers, Intelligence and other law enforcement agencies (LEAs) for their phenomenal achievements and sacrifices in improving security environment in Karachi.

The COAS also appreciated the people of Karachi for their unflinching support for the security forces.

Earlier in the morning, the army chief addressed the faculty, participants and allied officers of Air War Course.

The army chief dilated on the current global issues, regional security Environment, and our fight against the menace of terrorism.

General Raheel resolved to take the fight to its logical end and help create environment to embark the country on the road to development.

The COAS lauded Pakistan Air Force (PAF)’s role and contributions in support of Army in Operation Zarb-E-Azb. He said that synergy achieved between Air and Land forces has been highly appreciable.
