RAWALPINDI, Pakistan: The Director General Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Lt General Rizwan Akhtar has reached the United States on a one-day visit, according to the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR).

It is the first visit of General Rizwan Akhtar to the US since he took charge as the new ISI head in September last year.

The ISPR said that during his visit, the DG ISI will meet the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) Chief John O. Brennan and hold discussions on intelligence sharing matters.

“The DG ISI [has] proceeded to USA for an official visit,” the ISPR said in a statement on Wednesday.

“During the visit he will meet his counterparts and discuss issues related to intelligence,” it said.

The sources said that the DG ISI will also hold talks with the top US military officials on regional security, Afghanistan and counter terrorism.
