COVID-19 positivity and death ratio on increase in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Session of the National Command & Operation Centre (NCOC) was held in Islamabad on Friday morning, in which it was apprised about increasing the positivity ratio of COVID-19, increase the number of hospital admission, and increasing the number of deaths.

In the Session presided over by the Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Asad Umar, the Health Officials presented the data-based facts.

The forum noted that on the fifth continuous day the positivity ratio is on the increase while the average positivity is 40 percent higher in the last four days.

Likewise, deaths caused by the novel virus are also on the increase.

The Chief Secretary Punjab updated the forum on increasing figures in Punjab, mentioning that the death ratio in the province was 1.6 percent on September 1, and on September 23 (today) it’s 6 percent. The COVID-19 positivity ratio in Punjab has increased from 0.92 percent to 1.33 percent. Furthermore, it was noted in the forum that Pakistan’s current case fertility rate is 2.06 percent against the global 2.72 percent. In Pakistan, 71 percent of total COVID-19 deaths are male of which 76 percent over the age of 50 years.

It was apprised that the hospital admissions are also on the increase particularly in Punjab. Moreover, there is an increasing number of critical patients in hospitals.

The Chief Secretary Punjab updated the forum on increasing figures in Punjab, mentioning that the death ratio in the province was 1.6 percent on September 1, and on September 23 (today) it’s 6 percent.

The COVID-19 positivity ratio in Punjab has increased from 0.92 percent to 1.33 percent.

Furthermore, it was noted in the forum that Pakistan’s current case fertility rate is 2.06 percent against the global 2.72 percent.

In Pakistan, 71 percent of total COVID-19 deaths are male of which 76 percent over the age of 50 years.

Meanwhile, 736 more people tested positive for Coronavirus while 13 people lost their lives to it across the Country on October 22.

So far a total of 326,216 people have been infected by the virus in the Country and 6,715 have died of it.
