ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Interior Minister Chaudhary Nisar Ali Khan has said that Indian Spy Kulbushan Yadav entered in Pakistan for specific objective and consular access will not be given to him as per decision made in this regard.

The minister made these remarks while addressing the inaugural ceremony of Islamabad Safe City Project held in the Federal Capital on Monday.

Kulbhushan Yadav was arrested by Pakistan’s law enforcement agencies (LEAs) in first week of March while he was infiltrating into Pakistan from the Saravan border area of Balochistan with Iran. Later in a confessional video statement, Yadav admitted that he was still the serving officer of Indian Navy and entered Pakistan with assigned tasks to carry out subversive activities in Balochistan and Karachi.

Talking about the Islamabad Safe City Project, Nisar said that this newly installed security system would help in further ensuring security in the Federal Capital.

Chaudhry Nisar said that video summary software and 4G technology has been acquired for nearly 1,950 surveillance cameras installed across the city as part of the project. He said that a well-equipped command and control center has been established in a building at H-11 to monitor movements around important buildings of the city besides covering entry and exit points, roads, commercial centers and a sizable portion of the city’s residential areas.

The minister said that along with improving law and order in the city, the Safe City Project will also help in improving traffic system.

Talking about the success of the project, the minister said “the project’s success depends on the performance of the police, the custodian of the Project. Desired results will be achieved from this project if the policemen will perform their duties properly.”

Highlighting the salient features of the project, the minister said that this was true policing system, where every corner of the city would be watched on monitors through cameras installed in various parts of the city.

The interior minister said that he wanted to reduce police check posts in the city and hoped to do it practically after constant monitoring during the coming period of six months. He said that closed roads on Constitution Avenue have already been opened and utmost efforts are being made for the convenience to citizens.

To a question, the minister said that strict action would be taken against those who succeeded in getting fake Computerized National Identity Cards (CNICs), adding that there would be smooth process for verification of CNICs.

The minister said that the process of SIMs verification was completed within due time and re-verification of CNICs would also be made on the same pattern without any inconvenience to people.
