QUETTA, Pakistan: The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif on Monday reached Balochistan’s Capital after a suspected suicide blast ripped through the Civil Hospital in Quetta, causing martyrdom of at least 63 people.

Soon after his arrival in Quetta, the COAS visited the Civil Hospital Quetta and inspected the place of incident. He also inquired about the health of people injured in the explosion.

The COAS was briefed by the Commander Southern Command Lieutenant General Amir Riaz about the situation.

Sources said that MS Civil Hospital Quetta complained to the Army Chief about lack of security at the hospital

Later, the COAS presided over an important at the Corps Headquarters in Quetta in which law and order situation came under discussion.

The Army Chief also visited the Balochistan High Court and offered condolences with the Chief Justice and panel of judges for all those who lost their lives in the blast.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif also canceled all his engagements and left for Quetta. The prime minister will also chair a session regarding security issues in Balochistan.

The federal government announced to observe one-day mourning whereas the Balochistan government announced three-day mourning over the Quetta Civil Hospital blast.

The national flag will remain at half mast on all government buildings during this period.
