RAWALPINDI, Pakistan: The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Monday confirmed death sentences awarded to 10 hardcore terrorists included those who killed renowned Qawwall Amjad Farid Sabri.

In a statement, the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that all the convicts belonged to proscribed organizations, and were involved in heinous offences related to terrorism including killing of innocent civilians and attacking Pearl Continental Hotel Peshawar as well as law enforcement agencies (LEAs)/armed forces of Pakistan.

The ISPR said that they were involved in killing of 62 persons including 5 civilians, 11 police officials and 46 Frontier Constabulary (FC)/armed forces personnel.

It said that arms and explosives were also recovered from their possession.

The convicts were tried by Special Military Courts. They confessed their offences before the Judicial Magistrate and the Trial Court.

Besides, five convicts have also been awarded imprisonment.

Detail of each case is as follows;

Muhammad Ishaq S/O Muhammad Ibrahim & Muhammad Asim S/O Abdul Rehman:

They were involved in killing of a renowned Qawwall namely Amjad Farid Sabri and attacking the LEAs/armed forces of Pakistan which resulted in death of 17 officials. They were also found in possession of fire-arms and explosives.

Muhammad Arish Khan S/O Muhammad Aslam:

The convict was involved in attacking Pearl Continental Hotel, Peshawar which resulted in death of four civilians.

Muhammad Rafique S/O Hameed Khan:

The convict was involved in attacking LEAs of Pakistan which resulted in death of Lieutenant Colonel Muhammad Yousaf, Assistant District Officer (Frontier Constabulary) Karim Khan, Naib Subedar Fazal Wahid, Naib Subedar Muhammad Fayaz alongwith 16 soldiers and injuries to three other soldiers. He was also involved in the abduction of civilian Muhammad Ali for ransom.

Habib Ur Rehman S/O Khoba Gul:

The convict was involved in attacking LEAs of Pakistan which resulted in death of Lieutenant Colonel Anwar Abbas alongwith three soldiers and injuries to 15 others. He was also involved in collecting funds for the terrorist activities.

Muhammad Fayyaz S/O Gul Faraz:

The convict was involved in attacking armed forces and LEAs of Pakistan which resulted in death of Naib Subedar Fateh Muhammad, Havildar Pervez Iqbal, Havildar Basharat Ali, Police Constable Saleem Khan and four other soldiers.

Ismail Shah S/O Nek Badshah:

The convict was involved in killing of Naib Subedar Nasim Khan and also attacking the armed forces of pakistan.

Fazal Muhammad S/O Abdul Mateen:

The convict was involved in attacking armed forces of Pakistan which resulted in death of Naib Subedar Fateh Muhammad, Havildar Pervez Iqbal, Havildar Basharat Ali and five other soldiers.

Hazrat Ali S/O Muhammad Ali:

The convict was was involved in attacking LEAs of Pakistan which resulted in death of Havildar Wahab Ali and three other soldiers.

Habib Ullah S/O Anwar Baig:

The convict was involved in attacking law enforcement agencies of Pakistan which resulted in death of a police constable and injuries to another official. He was also involved in the destruction of three Compact Disc Shops at Akora Khattak.

The Air Chief reiterated his resolve to further enhance the existing bilateral cooperation between the two strategic partners. Commander AFCENT appreciated Pakistan’s efforts in promoting regional peace and vowed to enhance cooperation in the fields of joint training, mutual exercises and military to military collaboration. In a separate meeting, Chief of the Air Staff also called on Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Commander-in-Chief of the Bahrain Defence Force.
