ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: An important meeting was held in Islamabad on Tuesday between the civilian and military leadership to discuss the overall security situation in the country as well as the upcoming national security advisors level talks between Pakistan and India.

The meeting was held a few days before Pakistan’s Security Advisers Sartaj Aziz will visit New Delhi for holding security talks with his Indian Counterpart Ajit Doval.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif, the Director-General Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Lieutenant General Rizwan Akhtar called, the Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, the Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, the Advisor on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz and the Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi took part in the discussion held at the PM House.

In the talks, it was decided that the issues of Indian interference in Pakistan’s internal affairs and continued ceasefire violations by the Indian troops at the Line of Control (LoC) and Working Boundary will be raised at security advisors level talks with India.

The security advisors level talks between the two neighboring countries are scheduled in New Delhi on August 23 and 24.

The sources said that the revival of Pakistan-India foreign secretary-level talks and Pakistan’s concerns over the grant of bail to the main accused in 2007 Samjhauta Express blasts case are also expected to be taken up by Sartaj Aziz with the Indian security advisor.
