Chinese president likely to arrive in Pakistan next week

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Chinese President Xi Jinping is likely to arrive in Pakistan next week, according to media reports.

The Chinese president was scheduled to visit Pakistan in September last year but later the governments of Pakistan and China mutually agreed to postpone his visit in view of the political situation at that time in Pakistan.

In her weekly media briefing in Islamabad on March 26, the Foreign Office Spokesperson Tasnim Aslam had said that the Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit to Pakistan was confirmed and the dates of his visit would be announced simultaneously in Beijing and Islamabad.

The spokesperson had said that during the visit of the Chinese president, the two countries would review the whole gamut of bilateral relations as well as regional and international matters of common interests.

The two countries would also sign some important agreements in order to further cement the friendly and strategic relations, she had added.
