LAHORE: Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has said all parties conference (APC) on national security will be held soon after Eid-ul-Fitr.
Talking to the media persons in Lahore today along with Chief of Jamaat-e-Islami Syed Munawar Hassan‚ he said the conference will be attended by the leadership of elected parties and decisions taken on national security in the meeting will be implemented.
He said date of 12 July was earlier fixed for this meeting but it was postponed due to the foreign visit of Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf Imran Khan.
Voicing concern over the situation in Karachi‚ the Interior Minister said consultation will be held with all the stakeholders including political parties to improve the situation in the provincial metropolis.
Responding to a question‚ the Interior Minister expressed serious concerns over the sentencing of Jamaat-e-Islami leaders in Bangladesh.
Syed Munawar Hassan said controlling terrorism is important to address economic issues of the country. He said the situation in Karachi is very precarious and requires concrete policy to address the situation there.
He said earlier a committee of PML (N) headed by Khawaja Saad Rafique also held a meeting with the leaders of Jamaat-e-Islami and requested support for the presidential election.
Earlier‚ during a meeting the interior minister sought support of Jamaat-e-Islami for presidential election. The Interior Minister also invited Jamaat-e-Islami to attend the meeting on national security.
Prevailing situation in Karachi was also discussed during the meeting.
