PakistanCaretaker PM to be picked in two hours; says CEC

ISLAMABAD: Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Fakhrudin G. Ibrahim said on Saturday that selection of the caretaker Prime Minister would not take two-day time, rather he would be picked in two hours, the CEC told media ahead of the meeting.

On the other hand, with tasked to pick the caretaker prime minster, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) meeting has started in Islamabad.

Four nominees who are being taken into consideration for the top slot by ECP include Justice (retd) Nasir Aslam Zahid, Justice (retd) Mir Hazar Khan Khoso, Dr Ishrat Hussain and Rasool Bakhsh Palejo.

The Election Commission has two days to reach a decision.

On Friday, after spending three days to deliberate on the issue, an eight-member bipartisan parliamentary committee failed to reach consensus on the name for caretaker prime minister and referred the matter to the court of the ECP.
