KARACHI, Pakistan: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah has said that the province of Sindh was rich in natural resources which his government has started tapping them in the larger interest of people.

This he said while talking to a four-member delegation of Republic of Belarus led by its Industry Minister, Vitaly Vovk here at CM House, said a statement on Thursday.

The delegation expressed interest in energy sector, particularly in wind and solar and also agreed to work on coal energy.

The Sindh CM said that we would welcome Belarus government and its investors to come and help us in energy, agriculture and water sector.

The meeting was attended by Provincial Minister for Finance and Energy Syed Murad Ali Shah, Principal Secretary to CM Almuddin Bullo, Secretary Finance Sohail Rajput and others.

The Sindh CM said that Sindh was rich in natural resources such as wind, coal, solar, agriculture and various others.

The Sindh government has started exploiting the resources in the larger interest of people of the province, he said and added Sindh government is producing wind energy, solar energy and work is going on to generate power from Thar, he said.

The Sindh CM offered Belarus government and its investors to come over and invest in Sindh in any sector where they want. We are ready to support them, he assured.

The Belarus Minister said that they have expertise of exploration of ground water which involves field research and evaluation of ground water in the selected area.

They have drilling rigs for vertical and inclined boreholes, self-propelled drilling rigs and laboratory test of groundwater. “We can work together for ground water,” he offered.

He said that they have expertise in mechanization of agriculture sector. “Our tractors are popular in Pakistan, particularly in Sindh.

“We have modern plough, thrashers and such other related equipments for which plant can be established in Sindh to reduce the production cost,” he said.

“We would definitely work together- therefore on behalf of Belarus government I invite you to visit Belarus to explore other opportunities of working together,” he said.

The Sindh CM also said that a top class road has been constructed from Karachi to Thar to transport machinery for installing power plant at Thar.

“We need most powerful heavy trucks to transport heavy machinery from Karachi to Thar for coal-fired power projects,” he said.

On this the Belarus Minister said that they have expertise in manufacturing heavy vehicles. “We would also love to install such a plant in Sindh,” he offered.

The Sindh CM expressed gratitude to the delegation for their visit and organized their meetings with Finance Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah and his team for shaping up the investment proposals and mode of the investments.
