QUETTA: Chief Justice of the Balochistan High Court (BHC) Qazi Faez Essa took suo motu notice of the disappearance of the top Balochistan Prosecutor General, while lawyers are boycotting court proceedings across the province on Friday, Dispatch News Desk (DND) reported.
Wasay Tareen, the prosecutor General Balochistan, went missing in the Zhob district on Thursday while he was travelling by road to Islamabad from Quetta.
The BHC chief justice issued notices to chief secretary Balochistan, commissioner Zhob, federal and provincial home ministries regarding disappearance of Wasay Tareen.
The provincial additional prosecutor general filed an application stating that Prosecutor General Tareen went missing in Zhob area on his way to Islamabad from Quetta in connection with hearing of cases in the Supreme Court.
Advcoate Sajid Tareen, brother of Tareen, told media that they had lost contact with his brother two days ago when he was on his way to Islamabad.
“The last time he had contacted his son from Zhob and since then they are totally unaware about his whereabouts,” he said and expressed fear that Wasay had become a ‘missing person’.
President Balochistan Bar Association (BBA) Rehmatullah Bareech and other senior lawyers have expressed serious concern over the disappearance of the prosecutor general and demanded of the government to take active steps for his recovery.
BBA has also announced boycott of courts on Friday (today) against the disappearance of Tareen.
