ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: “Azerbaijan is ready to support the development of energy sector cooperation with Pakistan,” said Azerbaijan’s Energy Minister Natig Aliyev in a meeting with Pakistani delegation at Baku.

Azerbaijan’s Minister and the Pakistani delegation led by Managing Director of Pakistan State Oil Sheikh Imram-ul-Haque, Azerbaijan’s “Trend News agency” reported on Friday.

Talks on signing of a memorandum for energy sector cooperation are underway between governments of Azerbaijan and Pakistan at the level of working groups, Azerbaijan’s Energy Ministry statement said.

“Azerbaijan has reinforced ties with the energy systems of neighboring countries, which, in the long run, makes it possible to transmit electricity to Pakistan,” the Minister Aliyev said.

According to the statement, the meeting also discussed the prospects for creation of an infrastructure to transport oil products and liquefied natural gas to Pakistan.

The Pakistani delegation was also informed about the successful activity of State Oil Company of Azerbaijan in Turkey, Switzerland, Ukraine, and Romania.

Sheikh Imran ul Haque, in turn, stressed the importance of signing the agreement for realizing the projects.
