Islamabad: Election tribunal in Rawalpindi today accepted the nomination papers of PML-N candidate Ayaz Amir from NA-60 Chakwal and rejected the objections levelled by the Returning Officer. The Dispatch News Desk (DND) reported.

The Lahore High Court Multan bench overturned Returning Officers decision and allowed Faisal Saleh Hayat and Abid Imam to take part in general elections from NA-87 constituency.

Ex-president Pervez Musharraf today has also challenged the decision of returning officer after rejection of his nomination papers from Kasur. At least 100 out of 243 candidates have filed appeals in High Court after their nomination papers were rejected by the returning officers.

Two-member bench of Balochistan High Court Election Tribunal comprising Justice Naeem Afghan and Justice Muhammad Hashim would conduct hearing of nomination papers of 40 candidates whose papers have been rejected already.

The Lahore High Court has declared independent candidate Rae Jahangir Ali Kharl from Pindi Bhatian PP 106 eligible for contesting polls. Kharl’s nomination papers had been rejected by the retuning officer as he was unable to meet the criteria set by Article 62 and 63 of the Constitution.
