Australian FM begins two-day visit to Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Australian Foreign Minister Julie Bishop arrived in Islamabad on Wednesday for a two-day official visit to Pakistan to explore possibilities of further strengthening bilateral ties in diverse fields.

During her visit, the Australian foreign minister will hold separate meetings with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif.

Julie Bishop will also call on the Prime Minister’s Advisor on National Security and Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz, the Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan and the Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal.

The Australian FM will also visit Lahore where she will meet the Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif.

“During the bilateral meetings, both Pakistan and Australia will explore the possibilities of further strengthening the existing ties, specially in trade, investment, agriculture, education, sports and defence,” the Foreign Office Spokesperson Tasnim Aslam said.
