LISBON: Renowned lawyer and human rights activist Asma Jehangir has been awarded the prestigious Council of Europe North-South Prize for 2012.
According to a message from Pakistani Embassy‚ the award was given to her by President of Portugal at a ceremony at Portuguese Parliament in Lisbon.
Earlier‚ this prize was awarded to Mukhtaran Mai‚ the founder of “Mukhtaran Mai Women Welfare Organization” in 2006.
