ISLAMABAD: A key member of the Taliban negotiating team Professor Ibrahim Khan has said that Pakistan army was not happy over the release of Taliban prisoners because they do not want that prisoners be released.
The federal government released 19 non-combatants Taliban earlier in March, while the federal minister for interior Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said in a statement on April 5 that the government planned to release up to 13 more Taliban prisoners as part of goodwill gesture.
Talking to media, Ibrahim further said that the silence from the government side and the Tehrik-i-Taliban (TTP) has developed a deadlock like situation in the peace talks. He said he could only pray that the proceeding of peace talks start in the right direction.
The Taliban committee member said that he was trying his best to make the talks successful.
On Thursday, the Taliban negotiating team member said that there is a lack of confidence between the government and the outlawed TTP.
“We are working towards the restoration of confidence,” Ibrahim was quoted as saying by media.
