RAWALPINDI: Funeral Prayer of Maj Gen Sanaullah Khan, Lt Col Tauseef and Lance Naik Irfan Sattar was held at Chaklala Garrison, said an Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) press release on Sunday.

Interior Minister Chaudhary Nisar Ali Khan, Governor KPK Engineer Shaukatullah Khan, Secretary KPK Shahzad Arbad, Chairman Joint Chief of Staff Committee General Khalid Shamim Waynne, Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani attended the funeral prayer.

Air Chief Marshal Tahir Rafique Butt, Acting Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Zakaullah and a large number of senior serving, retired officers of three services, relatives of Shuhada, Politicians and people from all walks of life were also present in Namaz-e -Jinaza.

After funeral prayers the remains of Shuhada were sent to their ancestral town/village where they will be buried with full military honours.

Earlier, Two high-ranking Pakistan Army officers martyred in a roadside blast which hit military convoy in northwestern Upper Dir on Sunday.

According to ISPR statement, Major Genera Sanaullah and Lt. Col. Touseef were returning after visiting forward check posts when an explosion hit their vehicle.

Lance Naik Irfan Sattar, who was driving the vehicle, was also martyred in the blast which took place Binshahi area.

The ISPR said an IED planted on the road caused this blast.

Major Genera Sanaullah was General Officer Commanding (GOC) Swat whereas Lt. Col. Touseef was Commanding Officer 33 Baloch Regiment.

President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif expressed deep sense of shock and grief over the martyrdom of senior Army officers in the incident.
