“The presence of terrorist sanctuaries and support networks in Pakistan continue to cause trouble inside Afghanistan,” the Afghan Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah said while addressing the UN General Assembly on September 28.

“We call on Pakistan to do what its leadership promised to us a few months ago when they agreed to crack down on known terror outfits,” he added.

In his address at the Royal United Services Institute in London, General Raheel said that Pakistan has brotherly relations with Afghanistan. He said that the border management and greater international cooperation is must for regional peace.

“Pakistan will continue to support all efforts for enduring and permanent peace in Afghanistan,” he said but also warned against detractors and spoilers of these efforts.

The COAS said that reconciliation is the only way forward in Afghanistan and everyone should support it.

The army chief said that Pakistan’s security environment is now becoming conducive for upward economic trajectory.

Furthermore, the COAS said that Kashmir dispute is an unfinished agenda of partition and the world must help resolve it for the sake of genuine peace in the region.

“Kashmir dispute is root cause of all issues between Pakistan and India,” the COAS said.

The army chief said that the Indian intransigence, violations of Line of Control (LoC) and indirect strategy against Pakistan is negatively affecting the region.
