PESHAWAR: The Awami National Party (ANP) had a secret agreement with the United States, Senator Azam Khan Hoti alleged on Monday, adding that the deal was concerned with the Taliban and also involved an Arab country.
“Approximately $35 million was taken from the US as part of this agreement,” Hoti said in a press conference.
Hoti, whom the ANP had expelled from the party earlier this month on grounds of violating party discipline, said that the ANP leaders Asfandyar Wali Khan and Afrasiab Khattak had disappeared for 10 days in the US. However, he said that he had no proof for these allegations.
The former ANP leader said that he was given the information about the ANP leaders by US residents.
Hoti also called Afrasiab Khattak a thief who along with Asfandyar Wali Khan had destroyed the party.
In response to Hoti’s allegations about ANP deal with US, the party leader Senator Zahid Khan said that Hoti himself had admitted that there was no proof to these allegations.
Khan said that we were in government during the last five years, why were these allegations not leveled then?, adding that there has been a conspiracy against our leadership in every era.
The ANP leader said that an official reaction to the press conference would be given after two days.
