NewsAccountability Court to announce verdict in Avenfield reference on July 6

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Accountability Court will announce the verdict in Avenfield Properties reference against the former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz and Captain (retd) Muhammad Safdar on July 6.

The Court Judge Muhammad Bashir reserved the verdict in Avenfield reference filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) under the directives of the Supreme Court on Tuesday.

The Accountability Court heard the reference against Sharif family for almost nine and half months, and carried out 107 hearings.

During the hearing, Nawaz Sharif along with his daughter and son-in-law appeared before the Court; however, his sons Hussain Nawaz and Hassan Nawaz were declared proclaimed offenders by the Court for not making any appearance.

Avenfield Properties reference is one of the three references – other two are Azizia Steel Mills and Hill Metal Establishment references – and it is pertaining to four Park Lane flats in London owned by two Offshore Companies Nielsen Enterprises Limited and Nescoll Limited.

Initially, the Supreme Court asked the Accountability Court to complete the hearing process within six months; however, the Court kept on seeking more time.

Meanwhile, the Accountability Court today adjourned hearing of Al-Azizia reference against Nawaz Sharif and his family members till (Wednesday) tomorrow.

Nawaz Sharif’s Counsel Khawaja Haris will continue to cross-examine the prosecution witness Wajid Zia.
