82 percent PTI MNAs, MPAs do not pay tax regularly: state minister

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The minister of state for privatization Muhammad Zubair has said that 82 percent Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) lawmakers in the national assembly as well as in provincial assemblies including the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak do not pay tax regularly.

In a press conference along with the federal information minister Pervez Rasheed in Islamabad on Tuesday, the state minister said that the PTI Chairman Imran Khan blames others for not paying taxes.

The state minister said that the PTI leader Jehangir Tareen who is called by Imran Khan as one of his closest cronies got his loans written off from Habib Bank Limited (HBL).

Zubair said that Jehangir Tareen had diverted the funds of the national rural support programme to his sugar mills.

The minister said that during the tenure of Pervez Musharraf, Tareen as a minister made billions of rupees. He said that a banker in 1990s Jehangir Tareen today has become one of the richest persons of the country.

Moreover, he also alleged that all the contracts of mining in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where the PTI is in power, are being given to the companies of Jehangir Tareen.

On the occasion, the information minister said that the federal government is pursuing the agenda of providing relief to people, and does not want to indulge in the politics of accusations being followed by the PTI.

The information minister said that Imran Khan does not realize the violation of laws being committed by himself and his companions.
