71 more COVID patients succumb to virus in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: As many as 71 more COVID patients succumbed to the disease while 2,463 people contracted the virus in the last 24 hours across Pakistan, according to the National Command & Operation Centre (NCOC).

The NCOC data updated on Friday morning revealed that Punjab suffered 29 deaths on December 31, Sindh 27 deaths, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) 11 deaths, Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) 3 deaths, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) 1 death.

In the last 24 hours, 41,039 tests were conducted across the Country including 16,617 in Punjab, 13,383 in Sindh, 5,371 in KPK, 4,449 in ICT, 520 in Balochistan, 371 in Gilgit-Baltistan, and 328 in AJK.

The tests found 2,463 people positive with a national ratio of 6%.

To date, in total 10,176 people have died of Coronavirus including 4,042 in Punjab, 3,560 in Sindh, 1,649 in KPK, 419 in ICT, 222 in AJK, 183 in Balochistan, and 101 in Gilgit-Baltistan.

Similarly, a total of 482,178 Coronavirus Cases have been detected throughout the Country so far.

Punjab has so far recorded 138,608 Cases, Sindh 215,679, KPK 58,701, Islamabad 37,888, Balochistan 18,168, AJK 8,277, and Gilgit-Baltistan 4,857.

As of January 1, 2021, the figure of active COVID Cases in the Country is 34,773 while 437,229 people have been recovered from the virus.

Commander AFCENT appreciated Pakistan’s efforts in promoting regional peace and vowed to enhance cooperation in the fields of joint training, mutual exercises and military to military collaboration. In a separate meeting, Chief of the Air Staff also called on Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Commander-in-Chief of the Bahrain Defence Force.
