Business70 pc of parliamentarians failed to pay taxes in 2011; ECP informed

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) was informed on Wednesday that 70 per cent of parliamentarians had not filed their tax returns in 2011, Dispatch News Desk (DND) reported.

In a letter presented to Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Fakhruddin G Ebrahim during a meeting of ECP by Federal Tax Ombudsman, it was recommended that ECP should declare the submission of tax details mandatory for candidates seeking to contest elections, along with their nomination papers.

Sources said that ECP is considering for linking all the tax details of candidates with the nomination papers.
