ISLAMABAD: As many as 686 fire incidents, 53 building collapse (caved in) incidents, 66 drowning incidents and 12 explosions were reported in 36 districts of Punjab province during the month of March 2013.
According to performance report carried out by the Director General, Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) Dr. Rizwan Naseer to review emergency operations in all districts of Punjab, Rescue 1122 has rescued 42160 victims of emergencies while conducting 41199 rescue operations during the month of March, 2013 in all 36 districts of Punjab, whereas the average response time was reported 6 minutes.
The emergency calls to which Rescue 1122 responded includes 15680 Road Traffic Accidents, 22878 Medical emergencies, 686 Fire incidents, 53 Building Collapse incidents, 1716 Crime, 66 Drowning Incidents, 108 Special Rescue Operations and 12 Explosions.
While chairing a meeting of senior officials at Emergency Services Academy on Monday, the Director General said that road traffic crashes and medical emergencies have increased up to alarming stage. He asserted that the motorcyclists should never indulge in dangerous act of wheelie, over speeding, careless driving and usage of mobile phone while driving, as these are the common causes of traffic accidents. Dr. Rizwan Naseer asked the parents to never handover motorcars or motorcycles to their underage youths, adding the citizens are requested to immediately dial 1122 in case of any emergency because only timely call can fetch timely response and can save our lives from any disability.
These 41199 rescue operations in the month of March, 2013 includes 8225 rescue operations in Lahore, 4406 in Faisalabad, 3223 in Multan, 2238 in Gujranwala, 1574 in Bahawalpur, 1195 in Rawalpindi,1409 in Dera Ghazi Khan, 1159 in Sargodha, 935 in Rahim Yar Khan, 1545 in Sahiwal, 1161 in Sialkot, 348 in Murree, 1541 in Jhang, 658 in Toba Tek Singh, 733 in Muzafargarh, 588 in Rajanpur, 337 in Mianwali, 677in Pakpattan, 663 in Kasur, 585 in Gujrat, 567 in Bahawalnagar, 428 in Jehlum, 813 in Attock, 801 inKhanewal, 494 in Vehari, 276 in Chakwal, 652 in Okara, 553 in Hafizabad, 951 in Sheikhupura, 748 in Lodhran, 365 in Nankana Sahib, 367 in Khushab, 294 in Mandibaha-ud-din, 522 in Narowal, 350 in Layyah, 457 in Bhakkar and 322 in Chiniot.
