Islamabad, Pakistan: 6.3 magnitude earthquake jolted Pakistan. This was the fourth earthquake in the last 30 days in Pakistan and the third in the month of May 2023 as the first earthquake jolted Pakistan on April 27, 2023, and the first earthquake of the month of May was recorded on May 3, 2023.
It may be mentioned that the last powerful earthquake with a magnitude of 7.7 struck various areas of Pakistan including Islamabad and Lahore on March 21, 2023, causing panic and fear among the people.
The people rushed outside of their houses soon after the earthquake jolted parts of the Country. The earthquake was measured 7.7 on the Richter Scale, and its epicenter was 90 kilometers from Kalafgan, Afghanistan.
The reports said that tremors were also felt in Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Peshawar, Kohat, Bannu, Swabi, and Quetta.
Besides Pakistan, the earthquake also jolted parts of Turkmenistan, India, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, China, Afghanistan, and Kyrgyzstan.
As per the Pakistan Meteorological Department, the earthquake’s magnitude was 6.8 with a depth of 180 kilometers, and its epicenter was in Hindukush Region, Afghanistan.

On May 3, an earthquake originated on 03-05-2023 at 14:51 PST Mag: 5.7 Depth: 187 km Lat: 36.63 N Long: 70.58 E Epicenter: Hindu Kush Region Afghanistan. PMD Islamabad.
While an earthquake originated on 27-04-2023 at 20:43 PST Mag: 4.5 Depth: 54 km Lat: 27.97 N Long: 65.33 E Epicenter: 68km South of Kharan, Baluchistan.
According to the US Earthquake website, the source of earthquake was 35 km SE of Jurm, Afghanistan (2023-05-28 05:49:56 (UTC)36.611°N 71.076°E223), and it had a shallow earthquake depth of 8 km depth.
