Islamabad: Total 553 road traffic accidents were reported in Rescue 1122’s Provincial Monitoring Cell in all 36 Districts of the Punjab during the last 24 hours, in which 05 lives were lost and 458 serious injured were shifted to different hospitals of relevant district. However, some 235 victims sustaining minor injuries were provided first on the spot.
According to the details, 216 drivers, 96 pedestrians and 386 passengers were among the victims of these road traffic accidents. The statistics show 135 RTAs were reported in Lahore Control Room, which affected 147 persons placing the Provincial Capital at top of the list followed by 64 RTAs in Faisalabad with 73 victims and Multan remained at third position with 30 RTAs and 41 victims.
The details further show that total 698 victims were affected by road traffic crashes including 533 males and 165 females, while age group of the victims show that 109 were under 18 year of age, 425 were between 18 and 40 year and rest of the 164 victims were reported above 40 years. According to the data, 448 motorbikes, 60 auto rickshaws, 60 motor cars, 24 vans, 9 passenger buses, 16 trucks and 53 other types of auto vehicles and slow moving carts were involved in aforesaid road traffic accidents.
