RAHIM YAR KHAN, Pakistan: Two passenger buses collided in Khanpur area of Rahim Yar Khan on Monday which caused deaths of at least 31 persons while more than 50 suffered injuries.

Rescue sources said that one ill-fated bus was en route to Bhawalpur from Karachi and the other was on its way to Sadiqabad from Faisalabad when collision occurred between them on Khanpur Road near Sahja.

The injured were shifted to hospitals in Rahim Yar Khan and Khanpur where condition of some injured persons was stated to be serious.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif expressed deep grief and sorrow over the loss of precious lives in the accident. They directed the concerned authorities to provide best medical treatment to the injured.

The two leaders prayed for eternal peace of the departed souls and grant of courage to the bereaved families to bear this irreparable loss.

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan also expressed deep grief over loss of precious lives in Rahim Yar Khan Road accident. He prayed for early recovery of injured.
