Social265,214 IDPs return to tribal areas

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: As many as 265,214 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), out of 447,544 persons verified by NADRA have been repatriated to the tribal areas, according to an official of Ministry for States and Frontier Regions.

While 182,330 persons are still to be returned to their respective native areas.

NADRA verified 91,689 IDPs in Khyber Agency, 104,002 in North Waziristan Agency, 71,124 in South Waziristan Agency, 35,823 in Orakzai, 33,024 in Kurram, 2,228 in Tank, 72,895 in Bajaur and 36,759 IDPs in Mohmand Agency.

In all 73,767 registered IDPs of Khyber returned to their area, while 33,725 in North Waziristan Agency, 13,997 in South Waziristan Agency, 16,102 in Orakzai, 16,117 in Kurram, 1,852 in Tank, 72,895 in Bajaur and 36,759 in Mohmand Agency went back to their homes.

About 17,922 IDPs in Khyber Agency, 70,277 in North Waziristan Agency, 57,127 in South Waziristan Agency, 19,721 in Orakzai, 16,907 in Kurram and 376 in Tank still remained to be repatriated.

The long-awaited return of IDPs of FATA was initiated in March 2015 and till date around 90,000 NADRA verified families have been processed with the cellular companies for provision of Transport Grant of Rs 10,000 and Return Cash Grant of Rs 25,000 per family.

Return of the remaining families mentioned above is in progress and all the NADRA verified returning families will be provided with the Transport and Return Cash Grants subject to signing their Voluntary Return Form (VRF).
