Monitoring Desk: Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of the 16th BRICS Summit in Kazan voiced to ‘protect the UN-centric international system’.
According to TASS News Agency, both were of the view that Moscow and Beijing will continue to strengthen the UN-centric International system despite the chaotic and complicated global situation.
They might be referring to the NATO-based system that mostly defies basic principles laid by the United Nations to protect the rule of equality, sovereignty, and prosperity of every country irrespective of its global rating in weaponry power, and economy.
“Despite the chaotic and complex situation in the world, trade and cooperation between the two countries (Russia-China) in other spheres are actively developing with large-scale cooperation projects being steadily implemented,” Xi said as reported by TASS News Agency.
Xi also cited the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) as a bond among nations and said that Russia and China as permanent members of the UN Security Council as well as of SCO have higher responsibilities to protect humanity through their comprehensive strategic coordination.
Xi highlighted ‘new opportunities for the Global South’ and stated that the 16th BRICS Summit would be fruitful to move forward for rule base economy to benefit the humanity.

Russian President Vladimir Putin will hold bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed.
