131 killed, 838 villages affected in Punjab due to rain & flood: NDMA

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: At least 131 people have so far been killed in Punjab while 838 villages in the province have been affected due to rain and flood, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) spokesperson Ahmed Kamal told a private television channel.

The NDMA spokesman said that 63 have also died in Azad Kashmir and 11 in Gilgit-Baltistan due to rain and flood.

Kamal said that a total of 27,700 people and 120 villages in Azad Kashmir have been affected. He said that 1,785 houses have been completely smashed while 3,712 houses partially damaged in the area.

The spokesman said that local civic organizations along with Pakistan Army have continued rescue operations in the affected areas and more than 9,000 people have been shifted to safer places.

Without a shadow of a doubt, we will continue to expose the abuses and sanctimony with which the US is handling the situation. We will not allow the Americans to gag the entire council with their hands in an effort to encourage further continuation of Israel's ruthless operation," he said in a speech at the Security Council.
