12 killed, 60 injured as heavy rain, hailstorms hit Peshawar

PESHAWAR, Pakistan: Heavy rain accompanied by hailstorms lashed various parts of Peshawar on Friday, killing at least 16 persons and injuring more than 80 others.

The casualties occurred when roofs and walls of building collapsed due to heavy rain in the city areas including Lewane Baba Nothia, Faqirabad, Wazri Bagh, Lahori Gate, Phandu, Barisko, Ladny Sarak, Dir Colony and others.

The dead bodies and injured were shifted to the Lady Reading Hospital while the rescuers expressed fears that the death toll may increase.
